Cadence is calculated from the counted steps over a measured duration:
Cadence (spm) = (Steps Counted / Duration in seconds) x 60
Stride Length = Speed (m/s) / (Cadence / 60)
Ground contact time is estimated from cadence — higher cadence generally correlates with shorter ground contact time, which is associated with better running economy.
