Photo Finish Calculator — Time Differences from Photo Finish
Calculate time differences and distance gaps from photo finish images.
How We Calculate This
Photo Finish Analysis
The time difference is calculated from the pixel gap in the photo finish image:
Time Difference = Pixel Gap / Scan Rate
Distance Gap = Finish Speed x Time Difference
The scan rate is the number of vertical lines the camera captures per second (typically 1000-2000 Hz). Each pixel column in the image corresponds to 1/scan_rate seconds. Finishing speed is estimated at 105% of average race speed.
